May we all experience inspiration and joy in God's beautiful creations!
I have enjoyed art all my life. My high school art teacher was a great influence in my life. I have chosen to work with clay as my medium which I manipulate into many shapes and sizes. I love seeing my ideas come to life. Once I have completed the design and it has been fired in my kiln, I use additional methods and mediums to complete my work. I might use glaze, paint, stain or a combination to add a unique finish to the piece. I use several different materials to frame or mount my artwork like wood, tile, fabric, glass or it may stand alone as a three-dimensional piece.
I draw my inspiration from my life experiences, religious upbringing, Irish heritage and the love of nature. My goal is to share my artwork with others to give them joy & inspiration on their spiritual journey.

Artist Bio
Rita Dorcey Howe was raised in a large family on a farm in northeast Nebraska. Her love of art started at an early age. It was her favorite subject in school, and when she was given the experience of working with clay it became a part of her life. Through the encouragement from her high school art teacher, she attended University of Nebraska Lincoln, where she received her BS degree in interior design as well as her teaching certification for art. She was about to start her career in teaching art when she was given a new path to take. She was diagnosed with cancer in 1999. It brought new Spirituality into her life which gave her new inspiration for her artwork. She always finds peace and solace when working with her clay. |
In 2019 she was able to find time again to start working in her studio & she is so pleased to finally be able to share her artwork with others. She was first given an opportunity to sell her art in the gift shop at Cloisters on the Platte, but now she is in Gloria Deo & recently the Holy Family Shrine gift shop at Gretna. She has also done several commissions for individuals. Her items are one of a kind, hand crafted, & hand painted works of art. She feels so blessed to be able to use her God given talents to create & share His Loving Spirit. She is hopeful they will draw inspiration from her artwork for their life’s journey!
