Whimsy & Faith | Illustration, Pen/Ink, Drawing, Painting
Pen & Ink: "My pen and ink drawings are, in a sense, knit together, every stroke of the pen building upon the next. I work intently on a piece, each line and curve purposefully placed--to create beauty in each unique design so that not one piece is like another. As I put the pen to the paper,
I draw my inspiration contemplating God’s creation of a child in its mother’s womb—every detail of the child intentional and exact. Each finger. Each toe. Every hair on its head accounted for. The almighty and all-powerful Creator of the universe delicately knits together His new creation with a love so deep, so unfathomable and infinite. And then I, in my own small way, knit my drawing together, piece by piece, with His grace guiding each stroke of my pen."

Illustrations: "Childhood is simple, magical and whimsical. A child sees the world with eyes of curiosity, wonder and adventure. To capture those feelings and those images on my paper is my own adventure, with acrylics, watercolor, colored pencils, ink and digital applications--whether that be a simple, whimsical playhouse, or the experience of falling asleep outside in the light of a full moon. My hope is that you, the viewer, for that moment, may experience your childhood revisited."

Artist Bio
I was born and raised in small-town Nebraska and have grown up to be a wife and stay-at-home mom of three in that same small town.

There are two parts of me that have been profoundly and solidly present throughout my entire life: my relationship with Jesus and my affinity for art.

Both have been a part of me since I was old enough to use my imagination and hold a pencil, and they are both intricately linked. Each of these influences the other, but I recognize that my talent flows from Christ’s love and the gift of His grace, and ultimately whatever I create is a reflection of that.

While I enjoy all the different mediums that are available to artists these days, I would say my specialty lies
in digital art, pencil and pen & ink. Illustrations are my favorite pieces to create. I like to imagine a child getting lost in my drawings the way I would have when I was young.

And so my business, Whimsy & Faith, was conceived.

Favorite/Patron Saint
Saint John Paul II is my favorite saint. I would guess I'm not alone when I say that I always felt a connection to him. He had an aura of holiness about him that drew everyone in. His Letter to Artists is one of my favorites.

Favorite Quote
"Those who perceive in themselves this kind of divine spark, which is the artistic vocation, feel the obligation not to waste this talent, but to develop it in order to put it at the service of their neighbor and humanity as a whole." ~Pope St. John Paul II, Letter to Artists

"The power of the Good has taken refuge in the nature of the Beautiful." ~Plato

Fun Facts
I love drawing with my kids--they are way funnier than I am, and probably more creative!
Art museums are my favorite--seeing the artists' brushstrokes up close is amazing!
I have very recently begun the new adventure of starting a business from home.
