Eileen Rooney Pottery | Wheel-thrown and Altered Ceramics
My name is Eileen Rooney, a potter residing in Omaha, Nebraska. My interaction with clay began while at college. It quickly became a focus for my spare time and I could be found at the studio at all hours. After graduation from college, work and family became my focus until my return to pottery in 2012.
Functional pottery is my area of expertise with clean surfaces and colorful glazes that enhance the form. These pieces include plates, bowls, mugs and casserole dishes. As a side expression of creativity, I enjoy creating whimsical coin banks and garden stones using combinations of thrown forms. These items take the forms of animals, insects and reptiles.
Every facet of pottery making is enjoyable for me, from wedging clay, forming, slaking down unsatisfactory pieces, firing and glazing. I also enjoy selling my work and getting feedback during my sales as customers frequently laugh at my whimsical characters.

Artist Bio
Eileen began selling her work through Omaha Clay Works which closed its doors in 2017. Since then, she built a home studio so that she could continue her love of pottery, selling through home shows, local shows, art festivals, and more recently through a few, select art galleries. |

St. Luke, the evangelist Favorite Quote Goodbye, be good, be the best one there. Learn everything you can (that's good!) and say your prayers! (parting blessing from my mother) Fun Fact I am #8 out of 10 children born to my parents. My husband is #7 out of 9 children. I love coming from large families and trying to keep straight the names of great nieces and nephews! Professional Groups/Affiliations Fellowship of Catholic Artists member since 2021. Working under the mentorship of Mr. Henry Serenco, retired ceramic instructor, 2018 to present. Mayco Mud Room Society member since 2020. |
