I began my career as a contemporary warm glass artist. I combine my love of nature and the beauty of Nebraska in my works. I work to create the simple objects around my life in glass, both realistically and contemporarily. The land, flowers, nature in all its form.
The use of bold color of glass and contrast show off in my work, along with gentle colorations of glass
that show the quiet colors of nature. This gives my work a range of unusual qualities.
My fused glass art lends itself to the perfect medium for me because it can be seen from so many directions. It captures the light, giving off beautiful shadows from the artwork. Using small granular pieces of glass, frit, to build the transparent quality of glass to give it depth.
The glass is heated in a glass kiln to create either a flat piece called full fused or tack fused which is three dimensional and tactile. I love the qualities of glass and the challenge of using glass, it is very experimental. Glass gives me the challenge to create differing techniques.

Artist Bio
deb kubik is a native of Nebraska and resides with her husband in Omaha, NE. Deb is a full time contemporary warm glass artist. In 2012, deb began her career as a contemporary warm glass artist, combining her interior design degree with her educational teaching experience. In 2015, my glass artwork became international, representing Nebraska landscapes. It was selected by Governor Ricketts to be given to the Governor of China during their Economic Trade Mission to China in 2016, 2017 & 2018. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, Nebraska landscape pieces were given to the following countries Japan, China, Ireland & South Korea by the Governor. Other Nebraska State Senators have given my Nebraska art piece throughout the world on trade missions and when visiting dignitaries come to Nebraska. |
In 2016, 108 pieces of my Nebraska Landscape series were presented across the world to 108 countries by ASHRAE international representing Nebraska. In 2019 my commission work includes ‘Angels Among Us’ installation at the Ronald McDonald House in Omaha. In 2022 brought permanent installations at Jewish Denver and the Omaha Jewish Community Center. Along with many private collections.
Deb was selected as the featured artist for a solo gallery show in 2019 at the Sunderland Gallery, St. Cecilia’s Cathedral Cultural Center. In 2020 deb, was Artist of the Year for the “Wings Over the Platte” Stuhr Museum as the featured artist solo show for 6 months on the main floor gallery. She also had a solo show at the Omaha Jewish Community Gallery in 2020. In 2021 brought solo gallery show at the Schoolhouse Gallery in Brownville, NE and Omaha Jewish Community Center Gallery.
She received the following awards 2018- Best of Show “Wings Across the Platte” fine arts show; 2016 Award of Merit at Artsarben Fine Arts Show and Best of Show 2016 at the Stahler Gallery Fine Arts Show.
Deb received her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design & Architectural Interiors from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and spent many years as a free-lance interior designer and community volunteer while raising her family. After completing an endorsement in K-12 Art education from Peru State College in 1999, deb taught K-12 Art for 11 years until 2010. In 2006, Deb received the” K-12 Art Educator of the Year Award” from the Nebraska Art Teachers Association. In 2010, deb received “The Key to Pawnee City” from the mayor of Pawnee City in 2010 for work with the art students and the community, expanding the visual arts to all. Deb continues to teach through artist residencies in schools.
